GREAT HUNTER CYCLING CLASSIC IN MAY TO THRILL
RIDERS AND SPECTATORS IN THE VALLEY
On Sunday, May 24,
2009, the inaugural Great Hunter Cycling Classic - V2B Challenge will be
hosted in the Hunter Valley, with hundreds of spectators and cyclists expected
to attend and participate in the picture perfect routes set for riders of all
levels. The start and finish line will be at Hunter Valley Gardens in
Pokolbin, where crowds will gather to cheer on friends and
family.
Matt Farley, Event
Organiser and Director of Sling Fitness says, “This is a brand new event on the
Cycling New South Wales calendar which we’re very excited about because of its
versatility and magnificent backdrop. The race will be a mass participation cycling event that will cater
to all bicycling enthusiasts, from the serious rider and touring cyclist, to
recreational riders of all levels.”
Set in the picturesque
wine country, the course will provide an opportunity to participate in a wide
variety of individual and team challenges based around a circumnavigation of
Central Pokolbin.
Whilst the event is largely non competitive and accommodates for
every level of rider, it does offer competitive options for elite cyclists as
individuals or as part of a team. Riders can choose a fun, team, short or
long course ride. NSW
Road Series points are on offer for Under 15's through to Elite riders.
Top cyclists such Hawaiian
ironman entrant and Australian champion Chris Stanton will be participating.
$10,000
prizes and prize money will be up for grabs to place getters.
